He's showy.
He's got cute lips.
He's cold-blooded.
He's blue.
He is our new beta fish.
Today, we were discussing the fact that one of my roommates loves animals and the only animal we're allowed to have in the dorm is a fish. Using deductive reasoning, we decided that we should go buy a fish. We then decided to take a small road trip (see earlier post here) to Petsmart to buy us a beta.
So many decisions! We had to decide on a tank (the right size is important, but the right price is even more important to poor college students), fish food, the color of gravel in the tank, our FISH! (would it be a male or female, blue or red, fancy or plain), and the water conditioner vs conditioned water. We all eventually agreed on our blue, male beta fish. He's cool. Well, actually, we have to keep him pretty hot since he's technically a tropical kind of fish. Like, 72 degrees of hot which is much too hot for me. But I care enough about ABE to sacrifice for him.
Oh yeah, we named him too. Alpha Beta Epsilon...Abe for short.
Alpha because he is the alpha male in our room (aka, the only male)
Beta because he is a beta fish (duh.)
Epsilon because I was not willing to let our fish be named Ab. And Abe just makes me laugh to say. It is such a distinguished name for such a little fish. But we like our honest Abe. Hopefully, he'll live a long and happy life with us. As long as we remember to feed him and love him and clean out his tank.
Here, you can have a look at him! Yes, feel free to be jealous of his good looks.
