Good Directions

Saturday, October 2, 2010
My roommates and I decided to buy a fish today. We looked up the nearest pet store on Google, got the directions off Google maps and headed out. We made two small mistakes 1) we did not look at the actual map, we just copied down the street names and right/left turns 2) we went out of a different gate than the directions suggested.

After pulling out of BJ and turning the wrong way, we eventually figured that out and pulled into a gas station to change directions. Then we went in search of Liberty Lane.

We never found Liberty Lane.

I don't think it exists.

However, we took a nifty little detour by turning the wrong way onto Laurens Road, that took us to a lovely part of town. I looked outside . . . and then I securely locked my door. Just to be safe.

Then we turned around . . . I breathed a sigh of relief. We knew that Petsmart was on Laurens Road, so it stood to reason that if we traveled along it far enough we would find it, right? Right! We found it soon. But I would just like to say: Whoever generated the directions back there at Google Maps headquarters must have missed a few too many hours of sleep or a few days of training because when it says go right on Laurens Road, it really meant left.

I am not even going to discuss our attempts to get back. Thank goodness for street signs.

Our next purchase as a room is going to be a GPS.
